On 6 November 2018, at the City’s Conference Centre, Haiphong Economic Zone Authority cooperated with the Asian Carbon Emission Reduction Centre from Kitakyushu (Japan) to organise “Introduction to eco industry zones” conference. Participants included Mr Pham Van Moi – Member of the Standing Committee, Head of Haiphong Economic Zone Authority, Mr Junichi Cono - Managing Director of Asian Carbon Emission Reduction Centre, Dr Vuong Thi Minh Hieu – Industrial Zone Management Authority (Ministry of Planning and Investment) and other officers of different departments as well as managers of industrial zone infrastructure firms in the city.

Eco industry zone is an industrial zone where firms within the zone participate in clean production and efficient resource utilisation; firms cooperate in industrial symbiosis in order to improve efficiency in terms of economics, environment and society. Accordingly, a community of firms with competitive advantage and commitment to protect the surrounding environment and community will be created.
Mr Pham Van Moi emphasised that the construction of eco industrial zones with the strategy to minimise carbon emission attracts immense attention from officers in Haiphong. He hoped Kitakyushu would assist the city with equipment to reduce emission and develop the eco industry zone. Moreover, he proposed the Mistry of Planning and Investment to cooperate with other Ministries to provide guidance on incentives, process, conditions and targets in order to construct and develop eco industry zone around the country, including Haiphong.
After the presentation and discussion related to the development of eco industry zones, the two infrastructure, Dinh Vu Industry Zone Ltd and Shinec Ltd (Nam cau Kien Industry Zone) were willing to participate in building eco industry zones./.
